Creighton Giving Societies

When you give to Creighton University, you are impacting lives. You are contributing to the Greater Good. You are investing in the next generation of Creighton alumni so they can take what they have learned at Creighton and make a difference in the world. At Creighton, we gratefully recognize those who give so generously to support the mission of our University. We strive to honor donors through the societies listed below.

Creighton Society

Established in 1988, the Creighton Society recognizes those who have made annual unrestricted contributions of $1,000 or more to help Creighton continue to provide the highest quality Catholic, Jesuit education. These gifts allow us to offer need-based and merit scholarships, as well as exceptional learning experiences, including service trips abroad and community service here at home.

Creighton was founded in 1878 through a generous estate gift from Mary Lucretia Creighton, who wished to honor her husband Edward by establishing a school in his name. The Edward and Mary Lucretia Creighton Society, Creighton’s premier donor recognition society, honors the foundation built by the University’s philanthropic founders.

The Creighton Society recognizes and celebrates supporters who give annual gifts at the following giving levels:

  • Magis Circle: $25,000 and higher
  • Ignatian Circle: $10,000 - $24,999
  • Jesuit Circle: $5,000 - $9,999
  • Founders’ Circle: $2,500 - $4,999
  • Sustaining Circle: $1,000 - $2,499

heritage society

The Heritage Society pays tribute to those who share our founders’ vision by including Creighton in their estate plans. Creighton University wouldn’t exist today if the Creighton family had not expressed their desire to establish and endow an institution of higher learning.

Your commitment to Creighton’s future serves as inspiration to others to follow your lead. To be recognized through the Heritage Society, please provide the Creighton University Office of Estate and Gift Planning with a copy of the portion of your will, trust, life insurance policy or other beneficiary designation form pertaining to your bequest.

The following types of commitments are recognized by the Heritage Society:

  • Bequest provision in your will or revocable trust
  • Life-income gift naming Creighton as a remainder beneficiary, such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable gift annuity
  • Charitable lead trust that provides income to Creighton for a donor’s lifetime or term of years
  • Gift or assignment of qualified retirement plan assets, such as an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b)
  • Gift of life insurance
