A group of donors, faculty, staff, University leadership and construction workers gathered at the CL and Rachel Werner Center for Health Sciences Education for the Blessing of the Builders.
Creighton President the Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD, led the event, offering a short introduction as well as a blessing of one of the most transformative construction projects in the University's history.
"We ask God to be among us," Fr. Hendrickson said, "as we gather to bless the construction of the CL and Rachel Werner Center for Health Sciences Education, and to pray for the able craftsmen tasked with transforming our ideas into brick and mortar."
The blessing was followed by lunch, as well as a signing of a construction beam by Fr. Hendrickson, University leaders and the donors making the facility possible — CL and Rachel Werner.
"It is through the Werners’ love of this community and their benevolence that Creighton’s dreams of an interprofessional center for health sciences education are quickly taking shape," Fr. Hendrickson said. "I am stunned by the great magnitude of this structure."
Also in attendance were the Werners' friends, as well as executives from RDG, MCL, Project Advocates and workers from multiple construction teams.
