Take a short walk in any direction on Creighton’s campus and it won’t be long until you’ve discovered something that’s brand new.

A lot has changed here in the last year or so. To help you get your bearings straight, we’ve provided a quick refresher on everything.

These state-of-the-art improvements — most of which were supported by generous donors and friends — only serve to strengthen Creighton’s mission to deliver a well-rounded college experience to outstanding students. And there’s more to come very soon (scroll down for sneak peeks) …

Six must-see campus upgrades

1. St. John’s Plaza and Fountain

One of the most beloved and iconic spots on campus got a major makeover. And it looks even better than before! It’s a meeting place, a picturesque site for selfies and a symbol of the rejuvenating and welcoming spirit that makes our community special. View more photos.

2. Jérôme Nadal, SJ, Jesuit Residence

The new home for Creighton’s Jesuits is located along 24th Street at the east edge of the Jesuit Gardens, behind Creighton Hall and St. John’s Church. In addition to a living space, the Jesuit Residence will host students, faculty, staff, alumni and Omaha partners for Mass, spiritual counseling, tutoring, mentoring and mission-based programs. 3. Wareham Court

New couches. New comfy chairs. New tables, high-tops and counters. A coffee shop, convenience store and restaurants — all renovated and revamped. The VJ and Angela Skutt Student Center’s dining area and lounge space reopened early in 2024 as Wareham Court, with a fresh look for students to enjoy. Check out the photo gallery.

4. The McDermott Center

Almost 10 years after the pristine practice facility opened, Creighton leaders, donors, friends and fans came together to recognize the legacy of men’s basketball coach Greg McDermott and his family by naming the building in their honor. Formerly the Championship Center … it’s now The McDermott Center.

5. Graves Hall and the Simpson Family Courtyard

Graves Hall, located at 24th and Burt Streets, is the first residence hall built exclusively for first-year students since the 1960s. Its outdoor hangout space, the Simpson Family Courtyard, has turf, fire pits, lounge seating and more. Students moved in for the first time last year. View the photo gallery.

6. CL and Rachel Werner Center for Health Sciences Education

The School of Medicine opened its new home last year. The five-story building, covering 145,000 square feet, is located just east of U.S. Highway 75. An estimated 5,900 students, faculty, staff and visitors will use the Werner Center every year. Read more.

What’s next

New sophomore residence hall

Creighton's building a new residence hall exclusively for sophomore students. The currently unnamed hall, to be located on N. 21st Street between Cuming and Burt Streets, is set to open by the start of the 2026 fall semester. Learn more.

Creighton softball team

New softball field

A world-class softball stadium is coming to campus. It will be home to the Creighton softball team, and also will be used by area high school teams and Little League tournaments.

Kiewit Fitness Center renovation

Creighton is tripling the square footage of exercise equipment space currently offered in the KFC by turning the former swimming pool into an exercise area. The project is scheduled to be completed this academic year. Read more about the KFC’s history.

One additional note about Kiewit Hall...

The west side of campus is now missing a landmark. After housing students for nearly 60 years, Kiewit Hall was demolished in 2024. We tracked the tear-down process with photos and chronicled the building’s history.
