Christmas at Creighton 2025
As is customary at this time of year, there was a chilly breeze and frosty bite to the air as Creighton hosted its annual ceremony to unveil the Mall’s Christmas lights. But that didn’t deter dozens of students, faculty and staff from gathering in front of St. John’s Church to celebrate together and enthusiastically ooh and ahh at the festive display the moment the Christmas lights flipped on.
Of course, once the countdown had concluded, it didn’t take long for students to quickly shuffle into the Skutt Student Center for dinner, dessert, conversations … and warmth.
(Temperatures had dipped under 30 degrees outside.)
But the spirit of Christmas was certainly shared throughout the crowd during the event and into the evening. Creighton President Fr. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD, thanked attendees for contributing to a memorable fall semester on campus.
“Just as these wonderful Christmas lights illuminate the winter gardens, your own presence brightens the world around us,” he said. “I hope you can reflect on all that you bring to the world by sharing your light — how you are the beacon of hope for others.”
