Students sitting around the mall when campus is in bloom for spring

My name is Henry Dunham. I’m a senior, and I’m about to experience my fourth and final spring at Creighton.

You know what it’s like to be on campus at just the right time — when the days get warmer and longer, when the trees and gardens along the Mall come back to life, when the boldest students decide to wear shorts to class again. There’s nothing like springtime at Creighton.

There’s just a sense of renewal in the air. It’s like someone hit the refresh button. Like anything’s possible. For every day of my Creighton experience so far, I’ve felt this same sense of purpose and possibility, and it’s helped me grow more than I ever could have imagined — personally, professionally, academically and in my readiness to live for and with others.

I work as a campus tour guide, and I love to show our guests how truly special this community is. The spring tours, when everyone’s back outside hanging out along the Mall, are the best.

That first day it cracks 70 degrees … the moment the St. John’s Fountain starts flowing again … studying in the grass, throwing around a Frisbee, catching a quick nap in a hammock — these are the moments, I think, we students will one day look back on as our very best.

When I look to the coming season and to what my life will bring after graduation, I feel hopeful. But most of all I feel grateful — grateful to you for every great Creighton moment I’ve been given.

Every year, hundreds of faculty and staff like you are supporting this campus, these values, the idea of Creighton. You make all of it happen by supporting scholarships, programs and everything else that makes Creighton what it is — a place where all things are possible. I could never thank you enough for the experience you’ve given me.

I hope you will consider making a gift to Creighton this spring. In doing so, you are helping to create these special moments for a new generation of Bluejays.

This final semester, as I cross 24th Street every morning on my way to class or work, I’ll remember what you’ve done for me. All my springs were possible because of you.

Thank you.
