Featured Testimonial About Creighton University
A world record for the tallest snowman built on a college campus?
No.
The largest snowman in Creighton’s history?
Maybe.
We found this 1993 photo of an extraordinary supersized snowman on the front page of AlumNews.
There’s no corncob pipe. The eyes don’t appear to be made out of coal. But we can assume this snowman did indeed have a jolly, happy soul. He was built by Creighton baseball players and got to take in the campus sights as an honorary member of the team for one winter day.
Bryan Gillis, BA'96, Mike Browning, BSBA'95, Rick Heiserman, BA'95, and Dan Hower, BA'97, were the architects (or at least, they’re the ones who posed for a photo and received the credit).

Additional discoveries in the Creighton archives related to campus visits from snowmen:
This 1973 photo shows a melting snowman in the foreground with a couple of shirtsleeved students playing basketball in the background.
This snowman in 1997, found a nice spot to hang out for a bit.
The first snowfall in 1977 inspired Dan Michel, BSPHA'79, PHARMD'83, and Georgia Piperis, BSPHA'80, to build a snowman that ended up camouflaging quite well.
In 2001, this jolly snowman called the St. John's Fountain its home.
