Uniting in support of students

Creighton’s Giving Day on Tuesday, April 14, brought together thousands of Bluejay alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students and friends to support the areas of campus most meaningful to them.

For 24 hours, donors answered the call: You logged in, and you gave back. On Creighton’s campuses in Omaha and Phoenix. From the East Coast to the West Coast — and even abroad.

All it took was one individual act of kindness. Then another. And another.

The generosity quickly added up as the day unfolded, strengthening the scholarships, programs, academics, resources, clubs and teams that enrich the college experience for Creighton students.

Plus, there were new socks!

Every gift, no matter the size, helped bring areas of campus closer to their fundraising goal on Giving Day. When predetermined thresholds were reached, bonus gifts were unlocked to support schools, colleges and programs.

On our 2026 Giving Day, 30 different giving challenges were achieved, including the University's overall challenge.

By reaching at least 2,000 donors, Creighton earned an additional $100,000. The challenge was made possible thanks to the generosity of Maryanne Dokler, MD'78.

Supporting what you love

Giving Day is special because donors get to choose where their dollars make an impact.

Whether you’re contributing to a scholarship program that increases access to a Creighton education, or expanding academic resources, or supporting a student club, or boosting the budget of a Bluejay athletic team, your contribution immediately goes to work for students.

“I am paying it forward to help make sure others have the same positive and impactful experience at Creighton that I did.”

“My time at Creighton serves as an enduring reminder of what is possible in life and what an amazing institution Creighton University is! I will remain forever grateful and willing to support future generations of Bluejays!”
— Micah Gummere, Heider College of Business, Class of 2028

“My professional life has been blessed with opportunity made possible by my undergraduate and post-graduate years at Creighton. I value my friendships and connections established so many years ago.”
— The Honorable Donna Farrell Taylor, BA’77, JD’80

Living out the mission

At Creighton, students don’t just learn and grow inside the classroom. They’re shaped and molded by caring mentors and impactful experiences. The contributions made on Giving Day are vital for dozens of people and programs that enrich students’ lives.

Scholarships

22 scholarships supported

Tuition alone doesn’t fully cover what it costs to educate Creighton students. Most receive financial aid or scholarships. It’s why scholarships remain Creighton’s top fundraising priority and some of the most popular Giving Day campaigns. When Giving Day donors support scholarships, they help to give students a transformative sense of belonging, purpose and personal growth.

First-Generation Student Success

$25,730 raised for first-generation student success

Creighton recently earned recognition as a FirstGen Forward Network Champion for its success in recruiting and retaining students who are the first in their families to attend college. The honor went to just 40 institutions nationwide — Creighton is the first Jesuit school to receive it. The contributions received on Giving Day will only help enhance Creighton’s efforts to make sure first-generation students aren’t navigating college alone.

Student clubs and organizations

120 gifts made to student clubs and organizations

For the first time on Giving Day, donors could make a gift directly to the student club or organization of their choice. The contributions will help encourage more students to get involved and find their place in the Creighton community, from the social and recreational to the philanthropic and cultural, fraternity and sorority life, club sports, multicultural organizations and more!

Phoenix Health Sciences campus

7 Phoenix campus areas supported

Creighton’s Phoenix campus, which opened in 2021, continues to serve nearly 1,000 students preparing for healthcare careers. The Giving Day donors who supported the seven different Phoenix campaigns made a positive impact on the college experience for all of the future physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, pharmacists and physician assistants on campus.

More Campus Areas Supported

Campus Ministry received $8,589, Creighton Retreat Center raised $1,445 Schlegel Center for Service and Justice raised $22,695, Institute for Latin American Concern received $17,395 Student Counseling Services raised $1,205; Academic Success Endowment raised $2,345 The John P. Soaring together

Giving Day isn’t just a special day on campus. It’s a nationwide celebration of a dedicated community of Bluejays that will always remain connected to Creighton, no matter where they’ve landed.

Thank you!

This year, at least one Giving Day donor made a gift from each one of the 50 U.S. states. Impressive! Bluejays truly were united for a coast-to-coast effort to support students.

Thank you for the collective effort. On our biggest online fundraising day of the year, you stepped up.

We’ll see you in 2027 when Creighton celebrates 10 years of Giving Day success.

Save the date for the next Giving Day: Wednesday, April 7, 2027.
