There’s an abundance of gratitude across Creighton’s campus after a historic Giving Day. We spoke with students, faculty and staff about the impact of these gifts.

Once again, on Giving Day, the Creighton community proved why its dedication is unmatched. Alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends came together from across the country to support dozens of meaningful programs and causes on campus.

A total of 3,058 donors combined for $1,162,611 in gifts to Creighton. It's the first time that our Giving Day fundraising campaign has eclipsed $1 million.

The support immediately resonated on campus.

“I am once again incredibly humbled by the generosity shown by so many dedicated members of our Creighton community on Giving Day. Hattie Ames, Class of 2025, College of Arts and Sciences:

“I feel cared for knowing that people are generously donating to support students’ well-being and mental health. I work with Creighton’s Student Counseling Services team as a handler for Cocoa the Therapy Dog. Every day, I get to see how Cocoa brings joy to students and helps add a community aspect to our campus. I’m so grateful that donors are supporting students.”

Jay Carney, PhD, Christian Spirituality Program Director and Professor of Theology:

“Thank you for supporting the Christian Spirituality Program during our 50th anniversary year! The Jesuits’ first apostolic priority for the 2020s is ‘to show the way to God through the Spiritual Exercises and discernment.’ CSP is the primary way we do this here at Creighton. The program counts well over 1,000 alumni around the world, working in settings as diverse as Catholic religious communities in Vietnam and Uganda, Protestant house churches in Hong Kong, and Ignatian spirituality centers in Kansas City and New Orleans. Thank you for helping us support our mission to share the graces of Ignatian spirituality with the world.”

“Your gifts have an enormous impact by making a Creighton legal education accessible, providing support for our legal clinics serving those in need and ensuring our students have what they need to become the lawyers and leaders of tomorrow. Thank you for supporting Creighton Law, our students and our community.”

Marcos Gonzalez, Class of 2024, College of Arts and Sciences, cross country student-athlete:

"I could not express enough gratitude to all the donors who have given contributions to the Cross Country and Track program. These contributions are essential for us to accomplish our goals and live out our dreams. Competing for Creighton has been a gift every day as I get to show up to practice and compete. Without these donations, I would not have the same opportunity to achieve my goals in cross country and reach my full potential on the track. This program is special, and your contributions reflect the powerful culture that has taken it to new heights. My teammates and I thank you so much for your lasting generosity."

Mary Ann Tietjen, Creighton Success Center Senior Director:

“Your generosity doesn't just provide financial assistance, it sends a powerful message to our students that we live our mission of being for and with others by sharing our gifts. Know your donation impacts our students' lives by letting them focus on their studies without the burden of financial stress during difficult times.”

“I am always overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for the journalism, graphic design and computer science alums and friends who give so generously to support Creighton students of the future. We need good, caring and dedicated journalists more than ever, and this scholarship helps in a small way. Even more, the gifts are a testament to Creighton and the communities we build here.”

Bridget Keegan, PhD, College of Arts and Sciences Dean:

“I am so grateful for the amazing support shown for our students on Giving Day. There is nothing more important to our mission and identity as a Catholic, Jesuit university than our ability to provide each student with a transformational education, whether that is in the classroom, the studio, the lab, the internship site, on campus or around the world. Your generosity allows students to reflect upon their unique gifts and to discern and explore where they are most called to share those gifts in the service of others. On Giving Day, each donation helps our students’ hopes and dreams grow into realities. The faculty and staff in Arts and Sciences cannot thank you enough!”

Kathy Kemler, Creighton Retreat Center Director:

“Thank you so much for your gifts to the Creighton University Retreat Center. Your generosity allows others to ‘come and see’ how God is working in their lives, to re-ground and find respite in this calm, peaceful, welcoming place that some call their 'home away from home.' We are grateful to offer this space to so many and so grateful to you who support this important work in our hurried world.”

“Giving Day means a lot to our Cross Country and Track program and really helps us make new strides. The things that we’ve been able to accomplish over the past five years, a lot of that can be attributed to our donors, just the help and support that we receive.”

Colleen Chiacchere, MS’14, Magis Catholic Teacher Corps Director

“To the friends, graduates and donors of Creighton who support our work in Magis Catholic Teacher Corps, we sincerely and enthusiastically thank you! To have the support in our collaborative work of forming faith-filled, effective, justice-oriented and compassionate Catholic school teachers is so uplifting and appreciated! You are enabling the Creighton spirit to remain active and robust in urban, suburban and rural school classrooms in cities throughout the Midwest and Arizona. Accompanying youth towards a hope-filled future is a privilege and an urgent call for us. Your help allows us to continue that accompaniment for many years to come.”

Jessica Clark, DNP, RN, College of Nursing Dean:

“I want to thank everyone for their generosity during Giving Day. As I am new to the Creighton family, I cannot express how moved I am by the commitment alumni, faculty, staff and students have to the University and the College of Nursing. I can assure you that this does not occur at other institutions, and we are all truly blessed to be at Creighton. In true Ignatian tradition, the spirit of magis is everywhere. The more is truly evident.”
