On Giving Day, it’s not just how much you give. It’s how far your gift will go!

For Creighton’s annual day of fundraising — Wednesday, March 3 — dozens of our generous donors will match gifts or give additional sums to designated areas through challenge funds.

We’re trying to raise more than $1 million in just 24 hours, and our challenge funds will be a huge help. Every donor will play a part!

Once at least 3,000 donors have made a gift on Giving Day, Creighton will receive an additional $225,000 toward annual scholarships, made possible thanks to the generosity of the Heider Family Foundation. Scholarships are the No. 1 fundraising priority for Creighton (and for Giving Day).

Alumni and friends from all schools and colleges are contributing challenge funds on Wednesday. (A full list can be found below.)

Nikki Rieck, BSW'94, said she benefited from scholarships and campus programs as a student.

“Now, it’s important for me to help Creighton continue to create those opportunities for others,” she said. “That’s one reason I give back to Creighton — so those opportunities and great experiences carry on.”

Lisa Andrus Hayan, JD’03, chair of the School of Law Alumni Advisory Board, has committed a challenge fund matching up to $5,000 of Giving Day gifts made to the law school.

“The intangibles that made our legal education unique — the sense of mission, the community, the open-door atmosphere — are just as true today,” she says. “And support of the law school is vital in sustaining the unique and special place we know and love.”

Thanks to the generosity of Drs. Deb, PHARMD’91, and Mike, DDS’92, Meehan, gifts to the School of Dentistry Clinical Operations Fund will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000.

Mike Meehan said they both received top-notch professional educations. Their Creighton experience was life-changing in many ways. It’s where they met, after all.

“Creighton is truly a wonderful place,” he says. “I remember my grandfather, who was the first generation of my family to go to the University, he would always say, ‘There’s Creighton, and then there’s everywhere else.’ “The older I get, the more I connect with that.”

“I believe I’ll never be able to give as much to Creighton as Creighton has given to my family.”
