An honorary alumni citation may be given when deemed appropriate.

Criteria for the award includes:

• The recipient has distinguished him or herself by some special service to Creighton University or to the community in which they dwell.
• The recipient manifests qualities in his/her personal life that mark them as cultured, and a person of high moral principles worthy of recognition by Creighton University.
• The recipient may not be a degreed alumnus of Creighton University.
