Dean's Message
Dean Eleanor Howell, PhD, RN
Dear Friends,

In May, 102 BSN, 29 MSN and three DNP students transitioned from student to alumni of Creighton University School of Nursing, and what a joyful time it was. We are delighted that graduating senior Melissa List was recognized at the May commencement ceremony for her commitment to mission and service with the highest honor bestowed on a Creighton graduate -- the Spirit of Creighton award. Read more about nursing graduates who received awards at the pinning and hooding ceremonies here. We are proud of all our students and wish them well as they begin and advance in their nursing careers. They are academically and experientially prepared to be valuable members and leaders of tomorrow’s healthcare teams.

Although there are fewer students on campus during the summer months, the accelerated BSN students and graduate students are hard at work. The senior accelerated BSN students will leave campus in July for their preceptorships, and are looking forward to their August graduation.

Our summer schedule also will be invigorated by planning activities associated with the University’s strategic planning process and with the health sciences’ proposed expanded affiliation with Alegent Health. Faculty from the School of Nursing are serving on seven of the nine University Planning Task Forces. Also, representatives from the School of Nursing will be meeting with Alegent nursing counterparts to explore opportunities to enhance our current relationship. As we chart our futures together, we are excited by the many opportunities that are before us!
