BluELINE2 ASSESSMENT TOOLS WORKSHOP
The Office of Academic Excellence and Assessment (AEA) is proud to announce a workshop to complement the campus assessment certification/training efforts. Special thanks to AEA associate Brian Kokensparger for developing this unique “flipped” workshop format. BlueLine2 Assessment Tools Workshop is uniquely designed to offer faculty and staff the tools and knowledge needed to develop rubrics for their courses.

The self-paced workshop is formatted in three phases of BlueLine2 assessment knowledge:
  • Phase 1: General introduction to BlueLine2 assessment tools
  • Phase 2: Enrollment in an online course focused on assessment terminology and tools, and how they are implemented in BlueLine2
  • Phase 3: Joining a cohort of other faculty members for a one-time, hands-on session where you will build rubrics for your courses
Access the phases of BlueLine2 assessment tools and begin the process of creating course rubrics here.

If you have questions about the workshop or materials, contact Brian Kokensparger.
IISSAM/SoTL Updates

Save The Date
The 2013 IISSAM Faculty Development Institute scholar proposal deadline is Feb. 1, 2013. Proposal applications and information can be found here. The IISSAM conference will be held May 30-June 2 at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles.

SoTL Bibliography
Mick Healey, a higher education consultant and active SoTL scholar, has compiled a rich array of bibliographies and resources. This month, we feature his Active Learning and Learning Styles: A Selected Bibliography, as we encourage you to begin integrating more active-learning into your spring courses.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

Online Teaching Course
The Creighton Office of Online Learning (COOL) is pleased to announce the availability of the Foundations of Effective Online Teaching and Learning certificate course. The course encompasses foundational knowledge and skills necessary for successful online course facilitation. This course is designed for anyone currently teaching or planning to teach an online or hybrid course for Creighton University. Faculty new to teaching online at Creighton should complete the course; all other faculty are welcome, as well. Approximately eight to 10 hours are required to complete the course. An overview of the Foundations Course is available by contacting COOL@creighton.edu.

Online Development
Creighton has an institutional membership to Sloan Consortium and WCET. Both are great resources dedicated to improving the quality of distance education. Sloan Consortium announced changes in the 2013 Institute program of events, which will encompass a certificate program, mastery series, workshop series and webinars.

Distance Education
A resource page that includes information on distance-education journals and distance-education scholarship is available on the COOL website.

Library Partnership
The Reinert Alumni Memorial Library partners with both COOL and AEA to offer campus-wide subscriptions. Take advantage of the great resources found in the December issues of the Teaching Professor and the Online Classroom. Contact Sally Gibson, 402.280.2228, for more information.

Send rubrics as an e-mail attachment to Brian Kokensparger. (Doc, docx, and pdf formats are preferred; URLs to publicly available web pages are also welcome.)
