Celebrating Scholarship of Teaching
|
Congratulations to Isabelle Cherney (pictured) for her article's nomination for the Maryellen Weimer Scholarly Work on Teaching and Learning Award. Isabelle's article, titled "Active Learning," was published in the 2011 edited volume, Promoting Student Engagement: Programs, Techniques, and Opportunities, 150-156. Click here for a copy of her article.
Congratulations also to Ann Lauglin, Meghan Pothoff, Misty Schwartz, Barbara Synowiecki and Amy Yager for their article "Combining Service Learning and Research: Partnering with Schools," published in September/October 2010 issue of Nurse Educator (download PDF of the article) and to Kelly Anders on her new book, Advocacy to Zealousness: Learning Lawyering Skills from Classic Films.
The Weimer Award will be presented at the 2012 Teaching Professor Conference, June 1-3, in Washington, D.C., but the campus community is encouraged to continue to forward copies of your Scholarship of Teaching for inclusion in a future newsletter OR for submission for next year's award.
Although a Creighton faculty member has not yet won this award, our campus boasts a number of individuals whose work has been previously nominated: Thank you to Naser Alsharif, Timothy Dickel and Sharon Ishii-Jordan, Gintaras Duda (and student, Katherine Garrett) and Roger Bergman for their previous submissions. We encourage you to join your colleagues in celebrating their Scholarship of Teaching!
